I noticed in the Dance like Varsity Fanclub contest a lot of the videos that should've been disqualified weren't. There are videos from NON-US residents and videos that aren't solo performances. In the full legal rules of this contest it said that it was US residents only and in all capital letters it said SOLO performance. I think it's unfair to have one of these entrants win.

To go along with this I question Larry B's entry into the hammer dance contest...
He's ranked number one... but the guy in the video is most obviously not him... IF he remains at the top... I hope he's not declared the winner. I mean... just out of fairness sake to the people who actually DID dance and enter the contest. (Although if you guys could find the guy from the video... and give HIM the lessons... that would be incredibly cool)

Users that are not residents within the United States are not eligible to win the VFC Contest prize. They are disqualified from winning, not from the contest. Once the contest is over, the winner will be chosen by the user who made it the farthest and is a resident of the US.

inventfmc,
We had the same doubts when the user "Larry B" uploaded the video, but we've made contact with the real dancer and he has confirmed that he personally created an account and uploaded the video. Do not be fooled! It's legit.

SWEET!!! THAT MEANS I CAN SEND HIM MASSIVE AOMUNTS OF MESSAGES SAYING "YOU ARE THE EFFIN MAN!!! MAN!!!"
just kidding. but that IS awesome!!!!

I understand that it's an american contest, But I don't understand why. If someone is the voted
winner, If they have the better submission and honestly earn winning. Why can't they get the prize? They worked just as hard as the American submittors did, they danced well too, just because they don't live in a specific country..

First of all I would like to thank melanieee:] for pointing out about videos that fall under the disqualification category. I had wondered too about them, but then I was too busy trying to advance in the tournament and forgot to ask.
My question though to J1mTones is this - I know you said that just because they don't follow the rules and do enter a video that is/will be a violation/disqualified (in this case not a legal resident or not a solo performance), how is this fair to those that actually follow the rules outlined?
Because if I'm looking at the total entries correctly (16 all together), six of them would be disqualified leaving only 10. This would have changed the landscape of voting and maybe have changed the final two contestants as well.
I just want to know if the next time I enter a contest and disqualified videos are still entered into the tournament, does this mean I can expect to be happy if I get beat by one of them and knocked out of a chance for whatever prize I was trying for?
I’m not knocking the skills of the other dancers because many of the competitors are amazing. I’m only interested in fairness for the rule followers. Just something to consider for future competitions/tournaments.

What I would like to know is what happens to the person that made it to the third round and was beat by the young lady that should have been disqualified from the very beginning. The whole contest for the Varsity Fan Club has been unfair. I feel there should be a redo for the entrants that actually followed the guidelines. Since the girl is disqualified why should there be any voting going on. Or at least let the person from the third round advance to the fourth and go against the other entrant since they both followed the guidelines.

Ok I have just reread the Official Rules page for this contest (3x very slowly) to make sure I understood. Here are the parts that caught my attention and are at the top of the rules page:
"ELIGIBILITY: Contest is open to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and District of Columbia, who are 14 years of age or older.…
HOW TO ENTER: During the Submission Period, produce a video …of your own SOLO dance performance of Varsity Fanclub’s “Future Love” dance….Incomplete entries will be invalid. " -- Official rules http://dancejam.c...J1mTones, I just wanted to point out that in the comment section of the young lady whose video sparked heated discussion (alexxa29) you said the following: "If you read the rules, out of country residents MAY ENTER A SUBMISSION to the competition but they CANNOT WIN the grand prize. As sad as it is, alexaa29 is disqualified from the winning the grand prize. That said, there will be other such prizes in store for her from the DanceJam Team for making it to the last round. Please, give alexaa29 your love and respect for this awesome submission! Tim @ DanceJam"
I tried to find that section in the rules but maybe I’m missing it amid all the legal jargon. I guess I’m upset on behalf of those whose videos went against an invalid entry and lost. Ok that’s more than two cents worth but what can I say…my high school teachers all said I should have become a lawyer. ;)

Alexa has worked on her video JUST AS HARD as all of the other entrants.
People CLEARLY like her video- or they wouldn't be votign for her.
Just because she doesn't live in America? I'm sorry but that's just not fair. I don't think contests
like this should not let great dancers compete, simply because of where they live.
