I've recently been talking with a friend of mine and we are both interested in taking some kind of Latin dance class together. She has a background in Salsa and Tango, while I have absolutely no background in this field of dance.

I was wondering what may be to the best dance to learn first? Easiest and with the most fundamental steps that could be taken to other Latin dance styles. Salsa seems to spring to mind first but what do I know :)
